Oklahoma City is set to host the 2024 Men’s and Women’s Armed Forces Softball Championships from August 14 to August 18, marking a historic moment as Devon Park welcomes the event for the second year in a row. The tournament will showcase elite slow pitch teams representing all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.
The excitement begins today with practice sessions taking place on Fields 3 and Integris Field from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Later in the day, softball enthusiasts can look forward to the Armed Forces Home Run Derby, Senior Home Run Derby, and an Armed Forces Alumni Game, all set to run from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. CT.
The official Opening Ceremony is scheduled for August 14 at 8:30 a.m. CT at OGE Stadium, followed by the first pitch of the tournament at 9:00 a.m. CT. Over the following days, teams will compete in pool play from August 14 through August 16, utilizing a round-robin format to determine seeding for the double elimination brackets. The championship games will unfold on August 17 and 18, with the Men’s Championship game slated for 1:30 p.m. CT and the Women’s Championship game at 12:00 p.m. CT. All 38 games will be held at Devon Park – OGE Energy Field.
This year’s tournament not only promises thrilling competition but also an opportunity for participants to showcase their skills and potentially advance to the Armed Forces Team. The U.S. Armed Forces Selection Committee will evaluate players throughout the tournament, with selected athletes going on to represent the Armed Forces at the USA Softball Women’s Open Slow Pitch National Championship or the Men’s Super Slow Pitch National Championship in September.
The Armed Forces Softball Championships, an esteemed event affiliated with USA Softball, has been a cornerstone of military sports since 1972. As the Men’s Air Force team seeks to defend their 2022 title and the Women’s Navy team looks to reclaim their 2021 championship, this event is set to highlight the spirit and excellence of military softball.

OKLAHOMA CITY— Day two of the Armed Forces Championship proved to be a day full of three exhilarating walk-off wins despite intense temperatures. Another day of intense temperatures upwards of 105 degrees Fahrenheit did not stop our men and women in uniform from battling it out in each competition of the day. In total there was eight games played on OGE Energy Field at Devon Park this afternoon into evening.
All-Navy Women 10, All-Army Women 4
The first game of the day was a matchup between the All-Navy women and the All- Army Women.
All-Navy Women got on the board in the second inning after Jasmine McCain singled, scoring one run.
The Navy women scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run, Ashley Perez grounded out, scoring one run, Val Proulx singled, scoring one run, Araya Ayala induced Brittani Bible to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and an error scored one run.
Navy then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a home run to center field by Val Proulx.
Ayala led All-Army with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Ayala and Erica Damone each collected two hits for Army. All-Army turned two double plays in the game.
Ayala opened the game for All-Army Women’s team pitching wise. The hurler allowed 10 hits and 10 runs (eight earned) over six innings, striking out none and walking seven. Perez opened the game for All-Navy in the circle. The hurler surrendered eight hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out none and walking three.
All-Navy Men 21, All-Army Men 20
The second contest of the day was a nail biter matchup between the Men of the All-Army team and the Men of the All-Navy squad.
All-Navy men’s team took Thursday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 21-20 walk-off victory over All-Army men’s team at Devon Park – OGE Energy Field. The game was tied at 20 in the bottom of the seventh when Kenneth Tyler singled, scoring one run and securing the win.
Isaiah Covington of the Navy drove in four runners in the win. The outfielder went 3-3 on the day.
The All-Army squad jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Alexis Cruz-Feliciano hit a solo home run to center field, Laquan Gilliard hit a solo home run to left field, KT Abraham hit a solo home run to left field, Trey Martin tripled, scoring two runs, and Steven Cox homered to left field, scoring two runs.
All-Navy piled up 23 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Ludwig led All-Navy with four hits in five at bats. Tyler, Florio, Retton, Miles, Granillo, Van Fossen, and Alicuben each collected multiple hits for Navy.
All-Air Force Women 11, All-Marines Women 10
The third game of the day was a matchup between All-Marines squad and the All-Airforce team that ended in walk-off fashion.
All-Air Force took Thursday’s game in dramatic fashion, with an 11-10 walk-off victory over All-Marines. The game was tied at 10 in the bottom of the seventh when Lisa Fellers singled, scoring one run.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as All Air-Force collected 17 hits and while the All-Marines had 20 hits in the high-scoring affair.
Bailey Stiwinter hit an inside the park home run, which helped All-Marines women’s team tie the game at four in the top of the fourth.
The Marines took the lead in the top of the fifth. Shannon Connors singled, scoring one run, to give them the edge, 5-4.
The Air Force jumped into the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Gabrielle Morgan doubled, scoring one run, and Jocilyn Rivera singled, scoring two runs.
Air Force made the score 11-10 in the bottom of the seventh after Dana Vahey tripled, scoring two runs, Kasey Pettit-Castor singled, scoring one run, and Fellers singled, scoring one run.
All-Air Force Men 28, All-Marines Men 21
The halfway make for Thursdays slate of games was a matchup between the men of the All-Air Force team and the All-Marines team ending in an Air Force win.
Bryce Evans was the standout player of the game. He hit two home runs and drove in five as All-Air Force defeated All-Marines 28-21 on Thursday. Evans homered in the second and fifth innings.
All-Air Force collected 30 hits and All-Marines had 26 in the high-scoring affair.
The Marines scored seven runs on eight hits in the top of the fifth inning. Douglas Houser homered to center field, scoring three runs, Christopher McWright doubled, scoring one run, and Derek Arroyo Hernandez homered to left field, scoring three runs.
All-Air Force added to their lead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to home runs by Evans and Todd Duncan.
Randy Norman started in the circle for All-Air Force. The hurler gave up 22 hits and 20 runs over five innings, striking out none and walking one. Tobias stepped in the circle first for All-Marines. The pitcher allowed 16 hits and 16 runs over two innings, striking out none and walking two. Dale Dominguez appeared in relief for Air Force.
All-Army Women 8, All Air-Force Women 4
The fifth game of the day included a strong defensive game between the women of the All-Army team and the All-Air Force team. Army ended up prevailing in the matchup after scoring eight runs.
Army amassed 12 hits in the game. Erica Damone and Schafer each collected three hits for All-Army. Gabriella Nowack collected two hits for Army in three at bats. Defensively, Army turned one double play in the game.
Amelia Cutchlow and Glotfelty each collected two hits for the All-Air Force squad. Carrisa Albizu, Taylor Hendrickson, Morgan, and Glotfelty each drove in one run. Air Force had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Gabriella Flores, Glotfelty, and Kasey Pettit-Castor led the team with two bases on balls each. Defensively, All-Air Force turned one double play in the game.
Bangi stepped in the circle first for All-Army. The starter surrendered six hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking 11. Kaila Backhaus stepped in the circle first for All-Air Force. The starting pitcher surrendered 12 hits and seven runs (six earned) over six innings, striking out none and walking two.
All-Army Men 19, All-Air Force Men 18
Another nail-biter game this afternoon ended in an All-Army win over a strong All-Air Force Game.
All Army M accumulated 23 hits in the game. Gilliard and Cruz-Feliciano hit multiple home runs for All Army M. McLaughlin and Cruz-Feliciano each drove in four runs for All Army M. Steven Cox, Hicks, Martin, Gilliard, and Abraham each collected multiple hits for All Army M. All Army M turned two double plays in the game.
All Air Force M amassed 20 hits in the game. Todd Duncan, Fow, Norman, Skurka, Velasco, Carlos Gerena, Dominguez, Evans, and Martinez each collected two hits for All Air Force M. Skurka led All Air Force M with four runs batted in. Skurka went 2-for-3 on the day. All Air Force M turned one double play in the game.
Alexis Cruz-Feliciano hit two home runs and drove in four as All Army M tied All Air Force M 18-18 on Thursday at Devon Park – OGE. Cruz-Feliciano homered in the fifth and first innings.
All Army M scored six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the third inning. Timothy Hicks homered to right field, scoring two runs, Derrick Hernandez homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Laquan Gilliard homered to left field, scoring two runs.
All- Marines Women 10, All-Navy Women 5
The seventh game of the afternoon was a victory by the All-Marine Women over foe the All-Navy team after the All-Marine Women trailed 4-0 after the first inning.
Brooklyn Ayers collected three hits in three at bats as All-Marines defeated All-Navy 10-5 on Thursday at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park. Ayers singled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
All-Marines collected 13 hits in the game. Childers and Ayers each collected three hits for All-Marines. LeGrand, Ayers, and Smart each drove in two runs for the Marines. Brigitte Blondell collected two hits for the Marines in three at bats as well.
Diaz drove the middle of the lineup, leading All-Navy with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Diaz, Shawna Dodder Aguerrebere, and Renee Irwin each collected two hits for All-Navy.
Lexi LeGrand started the game for All Marines W. The starter surrendered 10 hits and five runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking two. Ashley Perez led things off in the circle for All Navy W. The pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over three innings, striking out none and walking one.
All-Marines Men 26, All-Navy Men 24
All-Marines accumulated 23 hits in the game. Tobias and Schmid hit multiple home runs for the Marines. Andrew Davis, Tobias, McWright, Kyle O’Neal, Houston, and Luis each collected multiple hits for the Marines enroute to their victory. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game; Sablan alone had two of the six walks.
The All-Navy squad tallied 21 hits in the game. Ludwig hit two home runs in the game which amounted to him Ludwig going 2-4 hits in four at bats. Tyler, Ludwig, and Miles each drove in four runs for Navy in the matchup. Covington, Alicuben, and Florio each collected multiple hits for their team as well.

OKLAHOMA CITY– Day three of the Armed Forces Championship took place Friday at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park. The slate of games eight for the day featured an impressive slowing of each team offensive power. In total, there was eight games played on the day and featured two games for branches women’s team and two games for each branches men’s team.
All-Army Men 29, All-Marine Men 19
The All-Army team turned the game around with an explosive top of the fifth inning, scoring 15 runs on 15 hits. Hicks’ two-run home run to right field was the highlight of the inning. Despite a valiant effort from All-Marines, who accumulated 26 hits with standout performances from Tobias and Schmid, the All-Army team prevailed with a robust offensive display.

• All-Army Men: Hicks (2 HRs, 2 RBIs), Martin (7 RBIs, 4-for-6)

First Day of Bracket Play for The Armed Forces Championship Concludes at OGE Energy Field
OKLAHOMA CITY–Day four of the Armed Forces Championship took place Saturday at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park. The first day of bracket play featured a slate of eight games for the day and is double elimination. As both the men’s and women’s All-Marines teams have concluded their tournament by losing twice.
In the championship match Sunday, the All-Army women’s team will face the winner of All-Navy women versus All-Air Force women both of whom have one loss already. Whichever team prevails will have to beat the All-Army women’s team twice to win the tournament. On the men’s side, the All-Army team will play the winner of All- Air Force versus All-Navy as well who also both have one loss in bracket play. Again, whoever prevails in the matchup will then have to beat the All-Army men twice to claim the title of 2024 Armed Forces Champion. Times for both the Men’s and Women’s Championship matches are TBD.
All-Army Women 14, All-Marine Women 8
Melina Wilkinson drove in four runs on three hits to lead All-Army Women past All-Marines Women 14-8 on Saturday at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park. Wilkinson singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two.
All-Army came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the first.
All-Army accumulated 13 hits in the game. Nowack, Schafer, Summer Feathers, and Jolie Duong each collected multiple hits.
Stiwinter, the number eight hitter for All-Marines led the way with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Vaudreuil led the Marines with three hits in three at bats. LeGrand and Berrios each collected multiple hits for All-Marines throughout the game despite the loss.
All-Air Force Men 24, All-Navy Men 23
Robbie Fow hit two home runs and drove in seven as All-Air Force Men’s team defeated All-Navy Men 24-23 on Saturday at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park Stadium. Fow homered in the fifth and sixth innings.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as All Air-Force collected 31 hits and All-Navy had 26 in the high-scoring affair.
All-Air Force’s Fow and Evans hit multiple home runs for Air Force. Benfield went 5-for-5 at the plate to lead All-Air Force in hits. Duncan, Carlos Gerena, Justin Gheorghe, Wyatte Velasco, Ernesto Parra, and Evans each collected multiple hits for All-Air Force enroute to their nail-biting victory.
All-Navy amassed 26 hits in the game. Tyler, All-Navy number nine hitter, led the team with four hits in five at-bats. Ramos and Van Fossen hit multiple home runs for All Navy in the complete game effort. Ramos and Tyler each drove in six runs for Navy. Isaiah Covington, Van Fossen, Brett Retton, Nick Ludwig, Granillo, Alicuben, Kuyaunnis Miles, and Brandon Florio each collected multiple hits for Navy during the game too.
All-Air Force Women 8, All-Navy Women 6
Despite trailing by as many as four runs, All-Air Force Women rallied to defeat All-Navy Women 8-6 on Saturday at OGE Energy Field.
The Air Force offense piled up 17 hits in the game. Gorgus drove the middle of the lineup, leading All-Air Force with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went and impressive 3-for-4 on the game. Jocilyn Rivera, Carrisa Albizu, Taylor Hendrickson, Glotfelty, Pettit-Castor, and Dana Vahey each collected multiple hits for All-Air Force too.
Renee Irwin drove the middle of the lineup, leading All-Navy with three runs batted in. Irwin, also the teams number three hitter, went 2-for-3. Jennifer Meinhardt and Irwin each collected two hits for All-Navy.
All-Army Men 12, All-Marines Men 8
Renee Irwin drove the middle of the lineup, leading All Navy W with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Jennifer Meinhardt and Irwin each collected two hits for All Navy W.
All-Army men tallied 19 hits in the game. Derrick Hernandez went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead All-Army in hits. Abraham, Hicks, Robert McLaughlin, and Rayne Hulce each collected multiple hits for Army. Defensively, Army turned three double plays in the game.
All Marines tallied 14 hits in the game versus foe Army. Luis led All-Marines with four runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 3-for-3 on the day. Luis and Schmid hit multiple home runs for the Marines. Schmid, Derek ArroyoHernandez, and Sablan each collected multiple hits on the afternoon too.
All-Navy Women 11, All-Marines Women 10
Both All-Navy Women and All-Marines Women had their offenses going on Saturday at OGE Energy Field but All-Navy eventually prevailed 11-10. All-Navy collected 16 hits, while All-Marines had 17. The loss to the Navy puts an end to the tournament for the women of the All-Marines team.
All-Navy’s Diaz provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and she led All-Navy with three runs batted in. Diaz, the teams left fielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Shawna DodderAguerrebere and Diaz each collected three hits for Navy. Shifflet and Mccain each collected multiple hits for All-Navy.
For the Marines, the number seven hitter, Ayers, led the way with two runs batted in. Ayers, also the teams shortstop went 1-for-4 on the day. Brigitte Blondell led All-Marines with four hits in five at bats. Joseleen Rivera, Amanda Vaudreuil, LeGrand, Stiwinter, and Berrios each collected multiple hits for the Marines despite the tough outcome.
All-Navy Men 27, All-Marines Men 24
Jacob Alicuben hit two home runs and drove in four as All-Navy Men’s team defeated the All-Marines 27-24 on Saturday. This loss concludes the tournament for the All-Marine Men’s team.
All-Navy notched 32 hits in the game. Ludwig led All-Navy with five hits in six at bats from the leadoff position. Ramos went 3-for-6 at the plate and led the team with five runs batted in. Covington, Tyler, Florio, Retton, Miles, Erik Granillo, Van Fossen, and Alicuben each collected multiple hits for All-Navy to secure a spot in the final rounds of the tournament on Sunday.
All-Marines tallied 23 hits in the game. Luis led the Marine team with five runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 3-for-3 on the day. Luis, Schmid, and Houston each collected three hits for All-Marines in this matchup. Michael Tobias, Derek ArroyoHernandez, McWright, Nail, O’Neal, and Blake Knight each collected multiple hits for the Marines despite the loss.
Alicuben led things off in the circle for All-Navy. The hurler surrendered 23 hits and 24 runs over seven innings, striking out none and walking nine. Luis led things off in the circle for All-Marines. The starting pitcher surrendered 32 hits and 27 runs (25 earned) over seven innings, striking out none and walking two.
All-Army Women 18, All-Air Force Women 10
The women of the All-Army team amassed 19 hits in the victory over All-Air Force. Wilkinson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Army with four runs batted in; the second baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. All-Army’s Ayala, the number eight hitter, led the Army offense with three hits in four at bats. Clark, Damone, Nowack, Caitlin Martin, and Jolie Duong each collected multiple hits for Army in their win. Army’s hitters forced Air Force’s pitching to find the zone by racking up six walks during the game.
All-Air Force’s women’s team accumulated 17 hits in the game. Pettit-Castor led her Air Force team with four hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Kristen Shott and James each drove in two runs for All-Air Force Albizu, Gabrielle Morgan, Gabriella Flores, and Vahey each collected multiple hits..
Despite the loss to All-Army, the women of the Air Force team will take on the women’s All-Navy team Sunday morning at 9 a.m. CT in an elimination match. The winner of this math up will take on the women of the All-Army team in the championship match.

KT Abraham drove in seven runs on four hits to lead All-Army past All Air-Force 26-16 on Saturday. Abraham hit a home run to left field in the fourth scoring three, singled in the third scoring two, singled in the second scoring one, and singled in the sixth scoring one.
Army tallied 26 hits in the game. Abraham and Hernandez each collected four hits for Army. Hernandez hit two home runs in the game. The first baseman went 4-5 with two runs scored and five runs batted in. Cox, Hicks, McLaughlin, Martin, Gilliard, Rayne Hulce, and Cruz-Feliciano each collected multiple hits for Army.
All-Air Force accumulated 19 hits in the game. Velasco led Air Force with five runs batted in. The outfielder went 4-for-4 on the day. Velasco and Parra hit multiple home runs for All-Air Force. Duncan, Robbie Fow, Benfield, Evans, and Parra each collected multiple hits for Air Force.
The Air Force men will take on All-Navy Men on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. CT. This elimination matchup will determine who will square off against the All-Army Men in the Championship.

OKLAHOMA CITY—Championship Sunday brings a close to the Armed Forces Championship. The day featured six games at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park. Despite the heat advisory, the men and women of our armed forces battled it out to see who would walk away with the title of Armed Forces Champion. The championship match for the women was a matchup between All-Army and All-Navy. For the men, the championship was a matchup between All-Army and All-Air Force.
The first two matchups of the day, women’s Air Force versus Women’s Navy and Men’s Air Force versus Men’s Navy, were a survive and advance situation. On the women’s side of the bracket, the women’s Navy and Air Force teams both already had one loss in bracket play; the winner of this matchup would go take on All-Army in the championship while the loser will end their tournament run.
On the men’s side, the Air Force and Navy also both have a loss in bracket play. The Air Force will take on the Navy to determine who will advance to the championship game versus the All-Army and whose tournament run would end.
At the end of the day, All-Navy won the women’s division and the All-Army won the men’s division.
All-Navy Women 10, All-Air Force Women 9
The women of All-Navy snatched the lead late in their 10-9 victory over All-Air Force women on Sunday. The game was tied at nine in the top of the seventh when Navy scored one run to take the lead 10-9.
All-Navy collected 14 hits in the game. Irwin and Foster each collected three hits for All-Navy in the complete game triumph. Irwin, Foster, and DodderAguerrebere each drove in two runs for All-Navy which helped the team amass the 10 runs. Perez was also offensively dominant as she collected two hits for All-Navy in three at bats. Val Proulx led All Navy with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating a whopping 10 walks for the game.
All-Air Force tallied 18 hits in the game. Glotfelty went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the offense of All-Air Force in hits. Morgan, Ashley Culp, and Vahey each collected multiple hits for All Air Force despite the upset.
Given the result of this matchup, the All-Air Force women have concluded their tournament. The women of All-Navy will face the women of All-Army in the championship. The women of the All-Navy team would need to beat the red-hot All-Army offense twice to claim the title of Armed Forces Champion since Army has not lost a game in bracket play.
All-Air Force Men 19, All-Navy Men 14
Wyatte Velasco hit two home runs and drove in four as All-Air Force Men’s team defeated All-Navy Men’s team 19-14 on Sunday at OGE Energy field at Devon Park. Velasco homered in the second and first innings.
Bats blistered for All-Air Force as they collected 18 hits in the game. Velasco and Skurka each collected three hits for Air Force. Velasco and Parra hit multiple home runs for Air Force while Duncan and Bryce Evans each collected multiple hits.
Navy collected 16 hits in the game. Isaiah Covington led All-Navy with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. Covington, the teams left fielder, went 2-for-4 on the day. Retton led All-Navy offense with four hits in four at bats. Kenneth Tyler, Alicuben, and Florio each collected multiple hits for Navy.
The loss to All-Air Force closes out the tournament for All-Navy. The All-Air Force team will take on the men of the All-Army team in the championship match. All-Air Force must beat the All-Army team twice in order to claim the title of Armed Forces Champion for the tournament.
All-Navy Women 18, All-Army Women 9
All-Navy scored five runs on five hits in the top of the seventh inning. Irwin singled, scoring one run, Foster singled, scoring two runs, McCain hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Tiffany Schroeder induced Brittani Bible to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
All-Army blasted 15 hits in the game. Jolie Duong led her Army teammates with three hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Patten and Schafer each drove in three runs for All-Army. Melina Wilkinson and Ontiveros each collected multiple hits for All-Army during the game.
All-Navy amassed 23 hits in the game. Foster and Irwin each collected four hits for All-Navy. Foster went 4-for-5 at the plate and led the team with five runs batted in. Diaz, Meinhardt, McCain, Shawna DodderAguerrebere, Shifflet, and Proulx each collected multiple hits for Navya s well.
With this win, the Navy women force a winner take all championship rematch against the women’s Army.
All-Air Force Men 27, All-Army Men 22
Bryce Evans hit two home runs and drove in seven as All-Air Force men defeated All-Army men 27-22 on Sunday. Evans homered in the third and second innings.
The men of All-Air Force piled up 31 hits in the game to lead to an upset, extra inning win over Army. Velasco went 5-for-6 at the plate to lead the Air Force offense in hits. Todd Duncan, Benfield, Fow, Michael Martinez, Justin Gheorghe, Tyler Skurka, Ernesto Parra, and Dominguez each collected multiple hits for All-Air Force.
All-Army scattered 27 hits in the game. McLaughlin, the number seven hitter for Army led the way with six runs batted in. McLaughlin, the teams center fielder, went 3-for-6 on the day. Hernandez went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Army offense in hits. Steven Cox, Abraham, Martin, Hicks, Laquan Gilliard, Cruz-Feliciano, and Rayne Hulce each collected multiple hits for Army.
With Air Forces victory over Army, they now force a winner take all championship rematch versus Army to determine who will walk away from the tournament with the championship trophy in hand.
All-Navy Women 13, All-Army Women 8
The All-Navy women secured their championship victory after coming back to beat the All-Army team twice to secure their first-place finish.
Renee Irwin drove in six runs on four hits to lead All-Navy women past All-Army 13-8 on Sunday. Irwin singled in the second scoring two, singled in the third scoring two, and doubled in the fourth scoring two. Irwin had a dominant tournament offensively to help All-Navy claim the championship title.
Ashley Perez started in the circle for All-Navy. The starting pitcher allowed 14 hits and eight runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking none. Ayala stepped in the circle first for All-Army. The starting pitcher gave up 14 hits and 13 runs (12 earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking nine.
Navy collected 14 hits in the game. Shawna DodderAguerrebere and Jennifer Meinhardt each collected multiple hits for All-Navy. All-Navy was patient at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Perez, Monica Shifflet, and Brittani Bible led the team with two free passes each. Jasmine Mccain stole two bases to help her team secure the victory.
All-Army tallied 14 hits in the game. Melina Wilkinson and Ayala each collected three hits for All-Army in the complete game effort. Schafer and Ontiveros were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for All-Army despite the outcome. Feathers and Jolie Duong each collected multiple hits for All Army too.
With this win, All-Navy women’s team claims the title as Armed Forces Tournament Champion. Throughout the tournament they posted a 6-5 record with 112 runs scored offensively. Renee Irwin led her team blasting an impressive .636 batting average with 21 hits, 6 doubles, one home run, 15 RBIs, and 14 runs. In the circle, Ashley Perez was steady pitching 61 innings starting 10 of the teams 11 total games.
All-Army Men 28, All-Air Force Men 11
All-Army Men won in five inning run rule fashion versus the All-Air Force men in a rematch from earlier in the day.
Derrick Hernandez hit two home runs and drove in eight as All-Army’s men’s team defeated All-Air Force’s men’s team 28-11 on Sunday’s championship game. Hernandez homered in the second and first innings.
Army collected 21 hits in the game. Gilliard and Cruz-Feliciano each collected three hits for Army. Hernandez and McLaughlin hit multiple home runs for Army. Olvera Jr., KT Abraham, Hicks, McLaughlin, and Martin each collected multiple hits for All-Army enroute to their five-inning run rule victory. While the bats were hot and the homeruns were plentiful, Army drew seven walks on the game.
All-Air Force tallied 17 hits in the championship loss. Todd Duncan, Dale Dominguez, and Velasco each collected three hits for All-Air Force. Velasco belted two home runs in the game. Velasco, the teams center fielder went 3-3 with three runs scored and three runs batted in in the game. Tyler Skurka and Velasco each drove in three runs for Air Force. Fow collected two hits for All-Air Force in three at bats and stared the game in the circle before being relieved in the top of the fifth inning.
With this win, All- Army men’s team claims the title of Armed Forces Tournament Champion. During the tournament, the team posted a 6-4 record with 227 runs scored offensively. Derrick Hernandez led the All-Army team with a .689 batting average. Hernandez also had 31 hits on the week including seven doubles, one triple, and nine homeruns while also collecting 33 RBIs. The team’s homerun leader was Laquan Gilliard who crushed 12 homeruns during the week followed closely by teammate Timothy Hick who had 11 home runs. In the circle, the veteran Daniel Olvera Jr. pitched 66 of the 69 innings during the tournament.
