History of Border Battle
Launched in 2009, the annual Border Battle showcases international competition between USA Softball and Canada’s Slow Pitch National Teams, alongside appearances from select local teams. The Men’s Futures program was introduced in 2012, followed by the addition of the Women’s Slow Pitch National Team in 2017 and the Women’s Futures program in 2019—further expanding the event’s competitive pipeline.
The event begins with exhibition play before shifting to the Slow Pitch Showdown, where the Men’s and Women’s Slow Pitch National Teams face off against their respective U.S. Futures squads. The event culminates in the marquee matchup, as Team USA and Team Canada go head-to-head in the Border Battle XV competition for both the men’s and women’s divisions.
