Devon Park is owned by the city of Oklahoma City while the USA Softball National Office Staff operates and maintains the facility through a lease agreement. Welcoming over 200,000 fans annually, the facility has expanded from a two-field complex to now amassing four fields including the legendary Devon Park – OGE Energy Field. Since its opening, the complex has undergone various phases of renovations in effort of improving the overall experience for athletes, coaches, umpires, fans and media. All renovations are thanks to bond issues passed by the city of Oklahoma City.
Renovations to Devon Park – OGE Energy Field secured the venue as home of the NCAA Women’s College World Series through 2035.
Phase 1 Renovations: 2002-2003
The earliest renovations consisted of new restrooms, 519 new parking spaces and 3,000 added permanent seats along the first and third base sides of the stadium–increasing the seating of the stadium to 5,000. Field 2 was also refurbished within this phase of renovations while two new fields with lighting and covered concrete stadium seating were added west of the existing complex to expand park to a four-field facility.
Also included in this phase of renovations was a new upper concourse that connected the north fields with concessions and bathrooms as well as a new Hall of Fame Plaza and Sports Festival Esplanade–which consisted of a 300-foot-long, 40-foot-wide walkway for vendor tents and fan activities.
Phase II Renovations: 2013-2015
Devon Park–OGE Energy Field began receiving major renovations in 2013, which included updated and expanded dugouts, underground locker rooms, restrooms and training rooms, new photo wells for media and broadcasts and a new parking pad for television crews.
Phase III Renovations: 2018-2019
Renovations to the outer entrances and press box area began in 2018, adding a beautiful rock and brick facade with new ticket windows and entrances to give the facility a more modern feel. For game day operations, a three-story press box was added with new interview rooms, tunnels leading from team locker rooms, a broadcast booth and upgrades to technology infrastructure. Elevators, meeting rooms and additional media work areas were also added.
Phase IV Renovations: 2019-2020
Following the 2019 Women’s College World Series, Devon Park –OGE Energy Field received an upper-deck seating area that increased the capacity by an additional 4,000 seats. Also included in this phase of renovations were additional restrooms and suites to enhance the fan experience.
