Championship Series (June 5-7): Oklahoma vs. Texas
Opening day of the 2024 NCAA Softball Women’s College World Series (WCWS) featured eleven current members of the U.S. Women’s National Team program taking the field in Oklahoma City. Following the conclusion of the WCWS, two athletes – Maya Brady and Tiare Jennings – will represent the Red, White, and Blue at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup Finals, while the remaining nine athletes will join the U.S. Women’s Elite Team in the 2024 Japan All-Star Series.
UCLA – Maya Brady (WNT) & Megan Grant
After a short weather delay, No. 6 UCLA kicked off the WCWS action by defeating No. 18 Alabama. The Bruins secured a 4-1 victory over the Crimson Tide with four hits and four RBI — with Brady tabbing two of the four hits. The victory set them up to face No. 2 Oklahoma in the winner’s bracket on Saturday, June 1 at 2 p.m. CT.
Oklahoma – Tiare Jennings (WNT), Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen, Kelly Maxwell
No. 2-ranked Oklahoma was dominant at the plate on Opening Day of the WCWS, blasting three home runs – one of which came off the bat of Kinzie Hansen – to propel the Sooners to an 8-1 victory over No. 7 Duke. The Sooners will match up against No. 6 UCLA in the winner’s bracket on Saturday, June 1 at 2 p.m. CT.
Stanford – NiJaree Canady, Taryn Kern
Due to a slow offensive game, No. 8 Stanford fell to the No. 1 Texas Longhorns in a 4-0 contest. In the circle for the Cardinal, NiJaree Canady tallied five strikeouts through six innings of play. Stanford will drop to the loser’s bracket for an 8:30 p.m. CT matchup against No. 4 Oklahoma State on Friday, May 31.
Florida – Jocelyn Erickson, Skylar Wallace, Tim Walton (WNT Assistant Coach)
No. 5 Florida opened its WCWS campaign against No. 4 Oklahoma State with a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a solo home run in the fifth inning. Coach Walton and the Gators will face No. 1 Texas on Saturday, June 1 at 6 p.m. CT.
Oklahoma State – Lexi Kilfoyl
A quiet day at the plate pushed No. 4 Oklahoma State into the loser’s bracket to cap the WCWS action on Thursday night with a 1-0 loss to No. 5 Florida, with Kilfoyl tossing five strikeouts through six innings. Kilfoyl and the Cowgirls will move on in the tournament to face Stanford in an elimination game on Friday, May 31 at 8:30 p.m. CT.
Three current members of the U.S. Women’s Elite Team took part in Day 2 of the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) in Oklahoma City. Following the conclusion of the WCWS, each athlete will go on to compete in the 2024 Japan All-Star Series slated for July 4-8.
Stanford – NiJaree Canady, Taryn Kern
No. 8 Stanford kept their WCWS hopes alive in the loser’s bracket on Friday night as the Cardinal took down No. 4 Oklahoma State in an 8-0 (six innings) shutout win. Dominant in the circle, NiJaree Canady limited the Cowgirl offense to three hits while tossing seven strikeouts through six innings. Stanford continues its run in the loser’s bracket on Sunday, June 2 at 6 p.m. CT as they face the loser of Saturday’s meeting between the Oklahoma Sooners and UCLA Bruins.
Oklahoma State – Lexi Kilfoyl
A quiet offensive game sent No. 4 Oklahoma State home in an 8-0 (six innings) loss to No. 8 Stanford on Friday evening. Lexi Kilfoyl threw 3.2 innings in her final outing with the Cowgirls and leaves the collegiate circle with a 1.07 ERA — ranking second in the nation. Recently announced, the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year will go on to play professionally with Athletes Unlimited.

UCLA – Maya Brady (WNT) & Megan Grant
A tight 1-0 content against No. 2 Oklahoma saw the No. 6 UCLA Bruins drop to the loser’s bracket on Saturday afternoon. Megan Grant posted one of the Bruins two hits in the matchup with a single to second base. UCLA will take on No. 8 Stanford on Sunday, June 2 at 6 p.m. CT.
Oklahoma – Tiare Jennings (WNT), Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen, Kelly Maxwell
No. 2 Oklahoma opened Day 3 of the WCWS with a narrow 1-0 victory over No. 6 UCLA thanks to a solo home run from WNT member, Tiare Jennings, in the third inning. Kelly Maxwell dominated in the circle with 11 Ks through seven innings while only allowing two hits. The Sooners will move on to face the winner of tomorrow’s matchup between Alabama and Florida on Monday, June 3 at 11 a.m. CT.

Following a quiet day at the plate, No. 5 Florida fell to No. 1 Texas in a five inning 10-0 shutout to cap the Day 3 WCWS action. The Gators will drop down to the loser’s bracket to face No. 18 Alabama on Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. CT.

No. 5 Florida continued its WCWS campaign today with a 6-4 victory over No. 18 Alabama to send the Crimson Tide home on Day 4 – highlighted by a two-out three-run blast from U.S. Women’s Elite Team member, Jocelyn Erickson, in the sixth inning. The Gators advance to semifinal action where they will face the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners on Monday, June 3 at 11 a.m. CT and look to force an if-necessary game – slated for 1:30 p.m. CT – to earn a spot in the Championship Series.
Stanford – NiJaree Canady, Taryn Kern
No. 8 Stanford continues to fight for its place in the WCWS following a 3-1 victory over No. 6 UCLA to cap the Day 4 action. Tossing a complete game in the circle for the Cardinal, NiJaree Canady remained dominant with eight strikeouts and only one run allowed, while Taryn Kern tabbed an RBI-double in the win. Stanford will move on to the semifinals to face No. 1 Texas on Monday, June 3 at 6 p.m. CT with hopes of forcing an if-necessary game (8:30 p.m. CT) to advance to the Championship series.
UCLA – Maya Brady (WNT) & Megan Grant
The No. 6 UCLA Bruins concluded their season on Sunday night at the hands of No. 8 Stanford, 3-1, despite a solo home run from Megan Grant in the second inning. Maya Brady will end her collegiate campaign with her name in the program record books with 67 career home runs (2nd) and a .741 career slugging percentage (3rd) and will go on to play professionally with Athletes Unlimited following the conclusion of the WCWS.
Eight current members of the U.S. Women’s National Team program battled it out on Day 5 of the 2024 Women’s College World Series (WCWS) with hopes of advancing to the WCWS Championship Series. Today’s semifinal matchups saw one member (Tiare Jennings) of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup Finals roster compete for the NCAA title, while seven members of the 2024 Japan All-Star Series roster took part in the action.

Following a three-hour weather delay, No. 5 Florida came out swinging on Day 5 to defeat the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners, 9-3, and force the if-necessary game slated to take place Tuesday, June 4 at 1 p.m. The Gators blasted four home runs in the matchup with Skylar Wallace tabbing two of the four, while Jocelyn Erickson also recorded a hit in the contest.
Oklahoma – Tiare Jennings (WNT), Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen, Kelly Maxwell
Despite a two-out two-run homer from Tiare Jennings in the fifth, No. 2 Oklahoma fell to the No. 5 Florida Gators on Monday afternoon. The Sooners will get the rematch against Florida in the if-necessary game set to take place on Tuesday, June 4 at 1 p.m.
Stanford – NiJaree Canady, Taryn Kern
Capping the Day 5 action, No. 8 Stanford suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to No. 1 Texas after a fielder’s choice forced a rundown to plate one for the Longhorns. A pitcher’s showdown between the Cardinal and Longhorns, NiJaree Canady tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts and will end her sophomore season with a .75 ERA – the lowest in the nation. Taryn Kern and Canady will go on to compete with the U.S. Women’s Elite Team this summer at the 2024 Japan All-Star Series.

No. 5 Florida fell to No. 2 Oklahoma in extra innings on Tuesday afternoon’s if-necessary matchup following a walk-off solo home run that put the Sooners on top in the eighth inning, 6-5. Jocelyn Erickson tabbed a home run in the contest, plating two for the Gators in the first. Skylar Wallace ended her collegiate career with her name in the program record books in multiple categories while also setting the record for career runs scored in NCAA Division I softball. Erickson and Wallace will join the U.S. Women’s Elite Team in July at the 2024 Japan All-Star Series. With the conclusion of the 2024 season, Wallace will play professionally with Athletes Unlimited.

The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners proved dominant on Day 6 of the WCWS, defeating No. 5 Florida, 6-5 (eight innings), in the if-necessary game on Tuesday afternoon to advance to the WCWS Championship Series. Jayda Coleman sealed the win for the Sooners with a walk-off solo home run in the eighth – going 2-for-4 on the day – while Tiare Jennings tabbed a double in the matchup. In the circle for the Sooners, Kelly Maxwell tossed eight strikeouts through seven innings and held the Florida offense to four hits. Oklahoma will advance to the Championship Series to face No. 1 Texas, with Game 1 slated for Wednesday, June 5 at 7 p.m. CT.

In Game 1 of the WCWS Championship Series, the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners emerged victorious against No. 1 Texas, winning 8-3. Following the conclusion of the WCWS, Tiare Jennings is set to compete with the U.S. Women’s National Team in Castions de Strada, Italy at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup Finals. Additionally, Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen, and Kelly Maxwell will showcase their skills at the 2024 Japan All-Star Series with the U.S. Women’s Elite Team in July.

The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners made history in Game 2 of the 2024 WCWS Championship Series by clinching their fourth-consecutive NCAA Softball title on Thursday night with an 8-4 victory over the No. 1 Texas Longhorns. The Sooners tabbed 12 hits on the day — highlighted by a 2-for-4 performance at the plate from Jayda Coleman, while Kinzie Hansen also contributed with a hit. Kelly Maxwell closed out the series in the circle to record the final four outs and earned the well-deserved title of WCWS Most Outstanding Player. Also receiving WCWS honors, Hansen and Jennings were named to the 2024 All-Tournament Team. Coleman, Jennings and Hansen close out their collegiate careers having won four NCAA titles with the Sooners – marking a historic achievement as the first program in NCAA history to do so. All four athletes will go on to play professionally with Athletes Unlimited.
