OKLAHOMA CITY — USA Softball is proud to announce the election of eight new members to its Board of Directors through 2026. These individuals will play a vital role in guiding the organization and ensuring that USA Softball continues to grow and succeed at all levels of the sport.

The appointments are the result of a careful selection process involving various committees and members of USA Softball. The USA Softball Nominating and Governing Committee takes the lead in recommending candidates for At-Large and Independent positions, which the Board then votes on. Regional Vice Presidents (VPs) are chosen by council members from their respective regions, serving a term through the Annual Council Meetings from 2024 to 2026. Additionally, athletes are elected by the Athletes Advisory Council (AAC) to represent their interests. Aubrey Leach and Nick Mullins have also been elected as Team USA Athletes’ Commission representatives and alternates for the upcoming 2025-2028 quadrennium.

“I’m excited to get this opportunity to work with USA Softball in another role outside of the field,” said newly elected Athlete Rep, Zac Shaw. “It’s also exciting knowing how much good this organization does for so many people and the opportunities it provides.”

New Members of the USA Softball Board of Directors

Below is a list of the newly elected Board members and the seats they will fill:

  • Region 1 Vice President: Tony Gowell replaces Bev Wiley
  • Region 9 Vice President: Rick Hansen replaces Roger Garcia
  • At-Large Member: Beverly Wiley replaces Donn Addante
  • Independent Member: Jari Askins replaces David James
  • Athlete Representative: Aubrey Leach replaces Michelle Moultrie
  • Athlete Representative: Blaine Milheim replaces Cam Schiller
  • Athlete Representative: Zac Shaw replaces Lovie Jung
  • Athlete Representative: Mike Lewis replaces Josh Johnson

The newly appointed Board members bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and dedication to the sport. Their varied backgrounds — from regional leadership to direct athletic involvement — contribute valuable insights to the decision-making and governance processes. USA Softball anticipates their leadership will have a meaningful and positive impact on the organization throughout their term. Throughout their terms, Board members are expected to actively participate in monthly virtual meetings and attend the Annual Council Meeting. These meetings are essential for discussing and implementing initiatives that will help advance the sport nationwide.

“I am humbled and honored to be a member of the USA Softball Board of Directors,” said newly appointed Independent Member, Jari Askins. “The rapid growth in softball participation and support will become even more exciting as we prepare for the Olympics.”

USA Softball expresses its sincere gratitude to the outgoing Board members for their years of service and commitment to the sport. Their contributions have been crucial in advancing the organization’s mission and fostering growth at every level.

USA Softball is governed by a 24-member Board of Directors, which includes a President, a President-Elect, and an Immediate Past President, along with 10 Regional Vice Presidents. Additionally, there are eight Athlete Representatives elected by the athletes themselves, one At-Large Director elected by the Board, one Independent Director also elected by the Board, and one Affiliated Organization Director chosen by the Affiliated Organizations.
