The Eagles close out the 2023 Pan American Games with an undefeated record, while tabbing three shutout victories through six games. The gold medal victory marks the 10th Pan American Games gold medal for the U.S. WNT while extending its overall record to 106-5.

The world-ranked No. 1 U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) kicked off the 2023 Pan American Games today with an 18-0 shutout victory over host country No. 55 Chile, highlighted by a perfect 2-for-2 performance at the plate from Team USA veteran, Rachel Garcia who blasted a three-run shot in the first while Mia Davidson followed suit in the third. Montana Fouts got the start in the circle for the Eagles, fanning four batters through 1.2 innings before Kathryn Sandercock stepped in for three additional K’s and Garcia entered in the third to post the final strikeout of the matchup. The trio combined for a no-hitter in the Red, White and Blue’s first matchup of the tournament..
Scoring early and often, the U.S. offense came out hot at the plate with 12 runs scored in the bottom of the first – capped by a two-out long ball from Garcia that plated three. A pair of hit-by-pitches along with back-to-back walks tacked on one more to start the second, followed by a single from Amanda Lorenz and a sac-fly from Baylee Klingler to plate two – extending the U.S. lead, 15-0. Davidson blasted a home run over the left field fence to snag the final three runs of the game, putting the U.S. on top, 18-0, while Sandercock and Garcia finished in dominance – combining for three strikeouts in the top of the third to keep the Chile offense off the bases and seal the run-rule win for the Eagles.
USA 9, Venezuela 2 (6)
SANTIAGO, Chile – The U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) picked up its second win of the 2023 Pan American Games with a 9-2 (six-innings) run-rule over Venezuela. A collective effort at the plate, three U.S. batters posted a multi-hit game in the win with Ali Aguilar leading the pack behind a 3-for-4 performance with three singles, two RBI and two runs scored. The pitching staff of Kathryn Sandercock and Rachel Garcia took care of business in the circle with Sandercock setting the tone through the first three innings followed by another three innings of work from Garcia to seal the run-rule victory for the Eagles.
Despite a quiet first and second inning, the U.S. offense came alive in the top of the third thanks a one-out single from Aliyah Andrews followed by a walk to Lorenz and a single from Aguilar to score the first two runs of the game. An RBI single by Dejah Mulipola and a walk from Mia Davidson kept the momentum going while another pair of base hits from Baylee Klingler and Erin Coffel put the Eagles ahead, 5-0. Answering back in the bottom of the third, Venezuela scored two following a line-drive double and a single – narrowing the U.S. lead, 5-2. Venezuela managed to silence the U.S. bats through the fourth and fifth innings until Sis Bates pressured the defense into an error to plate one, followed by a three-run blast from Sahvanna Jaquish over the left field fence to extend the U.S. lead, 9-2. After entering the game in the fourth inning, Garcia held strong in the circle through the final at-bat, retiring three-straight batters – two via strikeout – in the bottom of the sixth to seal the run-rule victory for Team USA.
USA 7, Mexico 0 (5)
Following a 7-0 run-rule (five innings) victory over Mexico, the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) improved to 3-0 at the 2023 Pan American Games to advance to Super Round as the No. 1 seed. The U.S. offense proved dominant once again with three U.S. batters tabbing multi-hit performances in the matchup including Ali Aguilar, Baylee Klingler and Haylie McCleney who all went 2-for-3 at the plate. Shining for the Eagles in the circle was Ally Carda, fanning nine batters while allowing only two hits through five innings.
Team USA was quick to get on the board thanks to a lead-off single from McCleney and a two-run homer from Amanda Lorenz that claimed the U.S. lead, 2-0. Aguilar kept the momentum going with a line-drive single while Sahvanna Jaquish and Klingler tacked on another pair of runs with a two-out triple and base hit. Despite a quiet second inning, the Eagles collected one more run in the bottom of the third courtesy of Klinger’s second base hit of the day followed by a pair of walks and a single from Aguilar to plate an additional run in the bottom of the fourth – extending the U.S. lead, 6-0. With walks putting two runners on base in the bottom of the fifth, McCleney sent a line drive single to right field to seal the 7-0 run-rule victory in walk-off fashion.

The U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) came out firing in Super Round of the 2023 Pan American Games, outscoring their opponents 19-6 with a pair of victories over Puerto Rico (11-3 – six innings) and Canada (8-3). The U.S. offense exploded in the two wins with a combined 22 hits including an impressive 5-for-5 day at the plate from Dejah Mulipola, who blasted a home run in each of her four at-bats against Puerto Rico – one of which was a grand slam. Also going yard with one long ball apiece was Erin Coffel and Rachel Garcia, while Sis Bates tallied a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate in the matchup against Canada.
Shining in the circle for Team USA was Rachel Garcia who tossed six innings for a run-rule victory over Puerto Rico before Kathryn Sandercock, Montana Fouts and Ally Carda took control in Game 2 with a combined four strikeouts. The pitching staff recorded a total of 11 strikeouts on the day with Garcia fanning seven followed by Fouts with three and Carda with one. Today’s wins mark Team USA’s fifth-straight victory en route to the podium at the 2023 Pan American Games, with Opening Round wins over Chile (18-0), Venezuela (9-2) and Mexico (7-0) while tabbing two wins on the day over Puerto Rico (11-3) and Canada (8-3) to close out Super Round. Leading the U.S. offense in its undefeated performance through the tournament is Mulipola with a .667 batting average followed by Aguilar (.533) – while Garcia, Coffel and Sis Bates each post a .500 batting average. The U.S. pitching staff of Carda, Fouts, Garcia and Sandercock dominated in the five wins – totaling 34 strikeouts and 15 allowed hits while giving up only six earned runs.

Capping a dominant week in Santiago, Chile, the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) clinched the 2023 Pan American Games gold medal after defeating Puerto Rico, 7-0, in a six-inning run-rule. The Eagles remained explosive at the plate with a combined 12 hits in the win with five U.S. batters tabbing a multi-hit performance on the day – including Ali Aguilar (2-for-4), Rachel Garcia (2-for-3), Amanda Lorenz (2-for-3), Haylie McCleney (2-for-3) and Dejah Mulipola (2-for-3). Taking care of business in the circle for Team USA was Ally Carda who limited the Puerto Rico offense to one hit and no runs allowed while fanning seven batters through six innings.

Lorenz then sent a double to left field to bring the squad within one of the run-rule, while Aguilar pushed the final U.S. run across the plate with a single in the gap to seal the 7-0 victory in walk-off fashion.
