The 2024 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Group Stage event is slated for Sept. 17-21 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City as The Softball Capital of the World® will act as one of three host sites for the group stage.
As host of a WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Group Stage event, the No. 5 Team USA has been granted an automatic spot in its respective group event and will join eight additional qualified teams so far.
The WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Group C Event will be streamed via GameTime. Fans will have the option of two different services: Group Pass ($12.99) or Daily Pass ($7.99). U.S. Men’s National Team opens WBSC World Cup Stage Event with 3-0 shutout over Colombia
OKLAHOMA CITY (September 17, 2024) — The USA Softball Men’s National Team (MNT) kicked off Opening Round of the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Group C Stage Event with a 3-0 shutout win over Colombia. Jonathan Lynch (2-for-3) was the only U.S. batter to record a multi-hit performance at the plate, while Jeff Lewis and Erick Ochoa also recorded hits in the matchup. Marco Diaz put on a strong performance in the circle in his Team USA debut, retiring the first nine batters faced in order via strikeout while collecting 16 K’s on the day.
Despite a quiet first inning, the Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the second thanks to a bases-loaded walk to Zac Shaw that put the U.S. ahead, 1-0. Lynch tacked on another run in the bottom of the third with a single to right field, while Frank Kimlinger tabbed a 2-out RBI in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead, 3-0. Diaz and the U.S. defense held steady through the final three innings to seal the shutout victory and earn the Eagles’ first tournament win.


Team USA improves to 3-0 at the WBSC Men’s World Cup Group C Event after back-to-back wins over Guatemala and the Netherlands
OKLAHOMA CITY (September 18, 2024) — The U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT) proved dominant on Day 2 of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Group C Stage Event, outscoring their opponents 18-0 with a pair of run-rule victories over Guatemala (7-0 – five innings) and the Netherlands (11-0 – five innings). Today’s win over the Netherlands marks Team USA’s third-straight shutout win of the tournament.
The U.S. offense came out firing in the two wins with a combined 26 hits with Blaine Milheim tabbing five hits on the day, while Jeff Lewis, Jonathan Lynch and Zac Shaw followed close behind with four. The U.S. offense posted six home runs on the day — with Lynch launching one in both matchups, while four additional batters blasted home runs against the Netherlands (Tyler Johnson, Frank Kimlinger, Milheim and Erick Ochoa).
Marco Diaz took care of business in the circle against Guatemala, fanning eight batters via strikeout through four innings before handing things over to Cody Gibbons in the fifth inning to record the final three outs. Keeping the momentum, Gibbons got the start against the Netherlands, tossing seven Ks through four innings before Javier Cabellero took over in the fifth inning to seal the win. The pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts on the day while not allowing a single run through 10 innings.

U.S. Men’s National Team remains undefeated at WBSC Group C Event after 9-5 win over Japan
OKLAHOMA CITY (September 19, 2024) —Continuing to take care of business at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Group C Stage Event, the U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT) remains undefeated after claiming a 9-5 win over Japan. Jeff Lewis shined for the U.S. offense, tallying a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate including a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning, while Jonathan Lynch also posted a home run in the matchup – his third of the tournament. Marco Diaz got the start in the circle for the Eagles, fanning 15 batters through seven innings. Team USA remains the only undefeated team in the competition and stands as the No. 1 seed heading into the last matchup of Opening Round tomorrow – while also clinching a spot in Saturday’s final.
Japan got on the board first after a lead-off double and a single pushed one run across, but the U.S. offense was quick to answer back after a hit-by-pitch to Lewis and a single from Ochoa pressured the Japan defense into a fielding miscue that allowed Lewis to speed home — tying the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Jonathan Lynch tacked on one more with a single to right field to take the lead, 2-1. Another double and single allowed Japan to plate two in the top of the second before Lewis tied the game once again with a single that forced a fielding miscue to push two runs in. A single from Blaine Milheim regained the lead for the U.S. in the bottom of the second — putting the Eagles on top, 5-4. A pair of solo shots from Lynch and Lewis tacked on two more before a single from Cam Schiller plated the final two runs for the Eagles in the bottom of the fourth, extending the U.S. lead, 9-4. Japan was able to tack on one run in the top of the seventh before Diaz and the U.S. defense shut it down to seal Team USA’s fourth win of the tournament.

U.S. Men’s National Team caps Opening Round with 11-4 run-rule victory over South Africa; Advances to the Final contest as No. 1 seed
OKLAHOMA CITY (September 20, 2024) — Team USA improved to 5-0 at the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Group C Stage Event following an 11-4 run-rule victory over South Africa to close out Opening Round and advance to the final contest as the No. 1 seed in Group C.
Scoring in five of the six innings played, the Eagles came out strong in game five with seven U.S. batters tabbing at least one hit in the matchup, while South Africa’s four runs came in the top of the fourth after a pair of two-run home runs narrowed the lead. Proving dominant on offense, Team USA posted 11 runs on 12 hits behind multi-hit performances at the plate from four U.S. batters including Tyler Johnson (3-for-4), Frank Kimlinger (2-for-4), Jeff Lewis (2-for-3) and Jonathan Lynch (2-for-3). A triple off the bat of Lynch, along with doubles from Johnson, Lewis and Lynch helped propel the U.S. offense to the win. At the same time, the pitching staff of Cody Gibbons and Jon Gwizdala combined for 14 strikeouts to seal the Red, White and Blue’s third run-rule victory of the tournament.

Team USA posts 10-0 run-rule over Japan to punch ticket to the 2025 WBSC Men’s World Cup Finals
OKLAHOMA CITY (September 21, 2024) —Behind a nine-run first inning, the U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT) posted its final win of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Group C Stage Event, defeating Japan in a 10-0 run-rule victory to punch its ticket to the World Cup Finals held in 2025. The U.S. and Japan met in the No. 1 vs No. 2 matchup while Colombia and Guatemala finished Opening Round in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. Team USA’s win sends Japan to take on Guatemala – who defeated Colombia earlier in the day — for the second spot in the Finals.
With a trip to the 2025 WBSC Men’s World Cup Finals on the line, the U.S. and Japan kicked off the action at 4 p.m. CT. Shining for the Eagles on offense was Erick Ochoa, posting a perfect 3-for-3 performance and only multi-hit day at the plate for the U.S. Four additional U.S. batters tabbed a hit in the matchup, with Zac Shaw sending a solo shot to center field and Jeff Lewis tabbing a bases-loaded triple.

Scoring early and often, the U.S. saw their first run of the game after a bases-loaded walk to Cam Schiller pushed one across before a pair of singles from Tyler Johnson and Yusef Davis brought in four more runs — putting the Eagles ahead, 5-0. Lewis kept the bats going with a bases-loaded triple to plate three while Ochoa tacked on another with a single up the middle, strengthening the U.S. lead, 9-0 in the bottom of the first. Despite a quiet second inning, Shaw pushed the Eagles to double digits with a solo blast in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 10-0. Diaz and the U.S. defense held strong in the top of the fourth, retiring the side in order and earning the win in run-rule fashion.
