USA Softball joins the community in mourning the loss of National Softball Hall of Fame member, Vinnie Caserto, who passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was 77 years old.
Vinnie Caserto (1946-2023)
A member of the National Softball Hall of Fame (Class of 1988), Caserto garnered a successful career in Men’s Fast Pitch softball while earning many accolades, including two National Championship titles and four ASA All-American selections. In his first year with the Raybestos Cardinals, Caserto led the team in batting average (.384) and home runs (11), in addition to leading the team once again in 1979 with a .360 batting average and 18 homers. A pitcher’s nightmare, Caserto finished his career with a .329 lifetime batting average while smashing 170 homers and driving in 583 runs. A two-time alternate for the USA Softball Men’s Pan American Team (1979 and 1983) and an ISF World Championship (1984) participant, Caserto was inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame in 1988 while also being enshrined into four additional Softball Hall of Fames including Dutchess County, Orange County, New York State and the State of Connecticut.
