OKLAHOMA CITY — USA Softball, a volunteer driven, not-for-profit organization, is seeking applicants for the position of Commissioner for USA Softball of Arizona. This position becomes available following the retirement of Commissioner Bobby Pena, effective August 1.

The USA Softball Commissioner should be an individual who is interested in serving as the principal liaison between the local Arizona association and the USA Softball National Office in Oklahoma City. Those interested in the complete duties of a USA Softball Commissioner may review them in Articles 405 and 406 of the Procedural Code on USASoftball.com.

A panel will interview and make their recommendation of a temporary commissioner to the USA Softball Board of Directors for confirmation. After serving a minimum of six months and no later than the USA Softball Annual Meeting, the Commissioners Appointment Committee will review the performance of the Commissioner and make a recommendation of interim or permanent status to the USA Softball Board of Directors.

Founded in 1933, USA Softball – formerly known as the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) – has evolved into the strongest softball organization in the country. The growth and development of the association led the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to name USA Softball as the National Governing Body of Softball, pursuant to the Amateur Sports Act of 1978.

Those with questions regarding the USA Softball of Arizona Commissioner position may inquire to:

Allison Flaig, Chief Operating Officer

Resumes will be accepted until Friday, June 16, 2023 at 5 p.m. CT.
