Known as one of the top hitters in the 1970’s and 1980’s, Andrew “Mighty Joe” Young was a dominant slow pitch player. He played in eight National Championships leading his teams to three national titles and one runner-up finish. Mighty Joe was named to three All-American teams including two first place selections while playing for top teams such as Nelson Painting, Steele’s, and Jerry’s Catering in the Men’s Open and Super Divisions. In 1980, he broke the all-time single season home run record smashing 337 round trippers that season, drove in 764 runs and had a batting average of .716. Mighty Joe was a player that opposing teams did not want to face in a deciding game situation!
