get to know…
- What does it mean for you to represent the United States of America? It means everything to me. The opportunity to take the field with the best in the country and wearing the three letters across your chest has been a dream of mine ever since I started playing this game at the highest level. I truly feel honored and grateful to be selected.
- What do you enjoy most about Men’s Fast Pitch? I think the thing I enjoy the most about the game of fastpitch is the number of friendships I have gained with people all over the country and the world. There are a lot of great people in this sport, and it is such a small world that everyone knows everyone. Some of the people I have met have turned into some of my best friends.
- How did you get started playing softball? I grew up around the game. I believe my parents took me to my first tournament when I was 6 months old in Sacramento, CA to watch my dad at nationals. My dad played for 25 years so I grew up around the game and I took some time off in my early to mid 20’s but I started playing full time in 2018.
- What is the best advice you’ve ever received? I believe the best advice I have ever received was to try and get as many at bats as you can when you first start playing. I come from a baseball background, so stepping into fastpitch was much different with the ball now going up and down. A lot of people told me to play as many tournaments as possible and to get as many at bats as I possibly can because that would give me the best odds for success down the road. So, I tried to play every weekend I possibly could. I believe in this past summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day, there was only 1 weekend where I did not play a tournament.
- What #MotivationMonday would you like to share with USA Softball fans? You’re only as good as your next at bat.
- What is your personal motto? The only thing I can control is today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, and yesterday is gone. Live for Today.
