OKLAHOMA CITY — USA Softball is thrilled to announce a series of groundbreaking legislative changes, passed by the National Council this past October, aimed at enhancing the championship experience for athletes across the country. These changes will provide greater flexibility in scheduling and introduce a new structure to determine one true National Champion in each Junior Olympic age division.
One of the key changes is an expansion of the allowable dates for National Championships. Effective immediately, championships can now be held anytime between June and the first week of August — allowing USA Softball to engage with a wider range of premier destinations nationwide.
Looking ahead to 2026, USA Softball will implement a brand-new championship format, culminating in the crowning of one true National Champion in each Junior Olympic age group (10-Under through 18-Under). While territorial championships will continue in the North, South, East, and West territories for both Class A & Class B divisions — the newly established Girls National Championship will be recognized as the premier competition — naming one true champion in each age group.
Each USA Softball local association will be granted one berth per age division and will determine eligibility and qualification processes at the local level. This new format provides a path for 62 teams per age group to compete for the coveted title of USA Softball National Champion.
