Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (December 19, 2024) – The spirit of giving was in full swing at the annual Toys for Tots Softball Tournament hosted by USA Softball of Alabama. Held in Fultondale, Ala., across two locations—Gadsden Sports Park and Southside Softball Complex—the event brought together 13 teams, numerous parents, fans, and community partners, all working to make a difference for children in need this holiday season.
This year, the tournament shattered its previous record of 23 boxes of toy donations by collecting an incredible 42 boxes, plus a truckload of girls’ bicycles donated by the Southside Girls Softball Association. These generous contributions will ensure a brighter Christmas for countless children in the area.
With the tournament expanding to accommodate more teams, the Southside Girls Softball Association played a key role by covering the field rental at their complex. Their efforts did not stop there—they also delivered a truckload of girls’ bicycles, further amplifying the impact of the event. “We’re thrilled to support such an incredible cause and help make a child’s Christmas special,” the Association shared on social media.
The tournament was made possible through the collaboration of numerous local organizations, including Gadsden Parks and Recreation, the City of Gadsden, and Mayor Craig Ford, who sponsored and hosted the event. “We’re so grateful for the coaches, teams, parents, and fans who came together to support this effort,” said organizers.
Santa Claus even made a special appearance—bringing holiday cheer and rallying the crowd to contribute. The event proved that the heart of the community beats strongest when people come together for a shared mission.
