OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization announced the appointment of Tim Doby (Carthage, N.C.) as permanent Commissioner for USA Softball of The Carolinas – which will combine North and South Carolina into a new Local Association as a part of Region 3.
“I am honored and excited for my new challenge as the Commissioner for USA Softball of The Carolinas,” said Doby. “To be able to bring North and South Carolina together under one association creates exciting new opportunities for myself, my staff, teams, umpires as well as the cities and areas hosting these events. While all my friendships in Region 2 will remain – as their support in this has been tremendous – we are honored to now be joining Region 3 alongside Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.”
Transitioning into this role after simultaneously serving as Commissioner for USA Softball of North Carolina and Temporary Commissioner for USA Softball of South Carolina, Doby garners over 10 years of experience in the organization in various different roles – including a six-year stint as the Junior Olympic (JO) Commissioner for North Carolina. Also well-versed in USA Softball National Championships, Doby has sent over 100 North Carolina teams to the prestigious events throughout the years while also assisting the National Office as a Tournament Representative in five National Championships across the country. Outside of his involvement within USA Softball local associations, Doby has also been a regular on the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex staff during the NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS) for many years. Doby garners a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
