OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization announced today that Manny Alderete (Bakersfield, Calif.) has been named Commissioner for USA Softball of Central California.
“It is a tremendous honor to serve at the Commissioner level for USA Softball,” said Alderete. “ASA/USA Softball has been a huge part of my family for the past 36 years where along the way I have had a great journey of sharing the knowledge, comradery and successes that our game can provide. I will wholeheartedly fill the position of Commissioner with integrity, family values, business, as well as player and coaching experience to ensure our membership benefits without question. My goal is to polish the presence of USA Softball at the local, state and national level and share the gratitude and esteem I have gained through participation in USA Softball with all.”
Currently serving as the Junior Olympic (JO) Commissioner for USA Softball of Central California, Alderete steps into the Commissioner role after rising through the ranks within the administration side of the organization, beginning as the California Kern County Commissioner in 1996 before transitioning to the District Commissioner position in 2008 while taking over as JO Commissioner in 2017. Alderete also brings perspective as both a player and a coach with over 30 years of experience on the field as a Women’s Fast Pitch coach and a Men’s Fast Pitch athlete – garnering 15 National Championship appearances and a USA Softball 50-Over All-American title. Outside of the organization, Alderete has an extensive background in education and athletics, working as the CTE Department Lead for the Kern High School District for 10 years while also serving as a head football, softball and golf coach for various high schools in the area since 1996. Alderete holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Mathematics from Cal State University of Bakersfield.
