Former Michigan ASA commissioner who won nation’s highest military honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor and a total of 29 medals for bravery. He is the most decorated combat soldier in U.S. history. Was named Michigan ASA commissioner in 1960 and also served five years as regional vice-president. Was on selection committee for the Pan American Games in 1979, the first time softball was an official sport of the Games. Passed away March 4, 1995 at age 75. Served as Holland, MI director of recreation from 1974 to 1989.
