Doug Middleton concluded his distinguished career as one of the premier pitchers in men’s fast pitch softball, competing at the sport’s highest levels for nearly three decades (1980–2008). A dominant presence in the circle, Middleton helped the Men’s National Team (MNT) earn bronze medals at the 1992 and 2000 World Cup, as well as silver medals at the 1999 and 2003 Pan American Games. Nationally, Middleton was named an ASA All-American eight times from 1986–2002, including First-Team All-American honors in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002, and was a five-time ASA Men’s Major National Champion. In 1998, he also received the Herb Dudley Award (Most Outstanding Pitcher). Middleton played for various teams throughout his career, including Harold’s, Penn Corp, National Health Care, St. Joe Traveler’s, Meierhoffer, and Frontier Casino. He has also been inducted into the Missouri ASA Hall of Fame (2007), the ISC Hall of Fame (2017), and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame (2023).
