Cheryl Trapnell stands out as one of the finest players who ever played for the Armed Forces as she played many years before moving on to the coaching ranks and proving her prowess in that capacity. She started her playing career with the United States Air Force Women’s Softball Team in 1981 and continued her illustrious career until 2005. Cheryl played a major role in the growth and development of softball as she was considered the best shortstop of her era, possessing the complete offensive and defensive skill sets to anchor any infield. She was named as a first team All-American ten times from 1989-2002, playing mostly at the A major levels. Cheryl was also a member of six National Championship teams.
