OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2023 lineup of USA Softball National Umpire Schools (NUS) is officially unveiled with learning opportunities available to aspiring umpires across the United States from February through April. Taking place in Idaho, Ohio and North Dakota, USA Softball National Umpire Schools provide student’s the opportunity to develop their individual talents and skills as an umpire.
“USA Softball umpires are recognized as some of the best in the world and we would credit a lot of that to our National Umpire Schools,” said USA Softball Director of Umpires, Kevin Ryan.
Each USA Softball NUS is designed for the optimum learning experience as National Umpire staff members provide each participant hands-on personal instruction on both fast pitch and slow pitch umpiring, including base and plate mechanics, while also developing and enhancing their skills with lectures and on-field drills.
The Idaho NUS will be held in Idaho Falls Feb. 17-19, while the Ohio school will take place in Dublin March 11-12 followed by the North Dakota NUS April 21-23 in Bismarck.
“Our National Umpire Schools are a staple of our mechanics training,” Ryan added. “You will be instructed in the basics up to, and including, game situations. The schools are a great refresher on all facets of the profession for the umpire who works league ball or the veteran national championship umpire.”
