USA Softball Exhibition Games

Selected athletes will travel to the Softball Capital of the World® to showcase their skills at the U.S. Women’s National Team Selection Camp beginning June 26 and will cap the week-long training camp with a series of exhibition matchups.
The triple-headers will feature the U.S. U-18 WNT taking on Local All-Stars, while the U.S. Women’s Elite Team will compete against No. 13 Great Britain. The nightcap matchup will see the U.S. Women’s National Team face off against the local professional softball team, the Oklahoma City Spark.

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 29, 2024) — Following a two-run first inning, the Eagles opened the 2024 Exhibition Matchups with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Oklahoma All-Stars, highlighted by a solo home run from McLaine Hudson and a combined 10 strikeouts from Addisen Fisher and Saylor Timmerman. Fisher got the start in the circle and quickly struck out three batters in the first two innings, while Timmerman took over in the fifth inning to fan seven batters through three innings. The Eagles got on the board early thanks to a solo shot from Hudson that put the U.S. on the board in the bottom of the first. Payton Westra kept the bats alive with a line drive double that paired with a single from Bella Ruggiero to plate another U.S. run – putting the Red, White and Blue on top 2-0 in the bottom of the first. The U.S. pitching staff of Fisher and Timmerman took care of business in the circle, tossing a combined 10 strikeouts to seal the win for the Eagles.
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 29, 2024) — The U.S. Women’s Elite Team opened its 2024 season with an 11-1 run-rule victory (four innings) over Great Britain in Game 1 of the Exhibition Matchup series at Devon Park, highlighted by multi-hit performances from Ciara Briggs (2-for-2), Jocelyn Erickson (2-for-3) and Aubrey Leach (2-for-3). Shining for the Eagles at the plate, Erickson and Skylar Wallace each tabbed a home run in the matchup while the pitching staff of Kelly Maxwell and Lexi Kilfoyl combined for six strikeouts on the day. The pair allowed only three hits, while not giving up any earned runs.
Scoring early and often, the U.S. offense came out hot at the plate with five runs scored in the bottom of the first – with Jocelyn Erickson kicking off the action with a solo shot to center field. The Eagles plated another five runs in the bottom of the third which featured a three-run blast from Wallace. Great Britain managed to score one run in the top of the fourth due to a ground out RBI, while the final U.S. run was scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth to seal the win by way of the run-rule. Maxwell got the start in the circle for the Eagles, fanning four batters through three innings before Kilfoyl stepped in for two additional K’s in the top of the fourth to clinch Game 1.
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 29, 2024) – The Women’s National Team kicked off their summer with a thrilling victory over the Oklahoma City Spark, 4-2, in an exhibition matchup at Devon Park. Jessie Warren was the hero of the night with a two-out, two-run triple down the left field line to break the tie in the fifth. Sahvanna Jaquish got the offense going early with a solo shot to dead center to put the Eagles up 1-0 in the second. Amanda Lorenz also tallied an RBI with a single up the middle to score Maya Brady in the third for the early lead.
Megan Faraimo had a hot start retiring nine of the first 10 batters faced. The Spark would creep back into the game off a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to tie things up at two all. Rachel Garcia (1-0) came into relief in the middle of the third and threw three shutout innings, striking out three. Ally Carda closed out the contest recording the final two outs in the circle and picking up the save. The pitching staff accounted for 12 of the 21 outs picking up 10 via the strikeout.
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 30, 2024) — Proving dominant once again, the U.S. Women’s Elite Team clinched its second-straight run-rule victory following Game 2 of the 2024 Exhibition Matchups in Oklahoma City behind an explosive offensive performance. NiJaree Canady got the start in the circle for the U.S., fanning seven batters before Valerie Cagle took over in the bottom of the fourth, while Lexi Kilfoyl stepped in in the sixth to record the final three outs. Hot at the plate, the Eagles scored four runs in the top of the first thanks to a three-run homer from Jocelyn Alo and a defensive miscue from Great Britain, putting the Eagles ahead early, 4-0. The top of the fourth saw four more runs across the plate after a sac-fly and single, followed by a two-run blast from Kinzie Hansen to strengthen the U.S. lead, 8-0. Jocelyn Erickson tacked on another run in the top of the fifth with a sac-fly while Erin Coffel (double) and Baylee Klingler (single) added two more in the sixth to further the U.S. lead, 11-0. Highlighting the U.S. offense with a perfect multi-hit day at the plate was Alo (2-for-2) and Megan Grant (2-for-2), while Kayla Kowalik (3-for-4), Coffel (3-for-4) and Klingler (2-for-4) also posted multi-hit performances. The pitching staff of Canady, Cagle and Kilfoyl combined for nine strikeouts while only allowing three hits through six innings.
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 30, 2024) – A full team effort highlighted by a combined no-hitter seals the deal for the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team. The Eagles took a commanding game two of the series, 7-0, to earn the sweep over the Local All-Stars. Lexie Hames and Cameryn Harrison dominated the circle with nine strikeouts and allowing just one baserunner. Hames picked up the win going four-innings with six strikeouts.
Harrison got it done on both sides of the ball going 1-for-2 at the plate and driving in four. Coming into relief, the righty threw three scoreless frames, fanning three All-Stars. Ella McDowell chimed in on the offensive push going 1-for-3 with two RBI. The Eagles conclude the exhibition series allowing just one hit and throwing 14 scoreless innings and 12 strikeouts.
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 30, 2024) – An offensive explosion in the first three innings helped lead the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) to victory on Sunday evening. The night-cap of a USA Softball triple-header ended with the Eagles soaring past the Spark in a run-rule victory over five innings, 11-3. Four WNT players tallied multi-hit performances with Jessie Warren (2-for-2) leading the way going perfect at the plate. Amanda Lorenz (2-for-3), Janae Jefferson (2-for-3), and Hannah Flippen (2-for-3) also joined in on the hit brigade. Flippen led the way in runs-batted-in with four, Jefferson and Warren were right behind with three a piece. Warren and Flippen also had a home run in the contest.
In the circle it was Megan Faraimo who got the start and recorded the win. Faraimo came back into relief later in the contest and finished with a pitching line of 2.1 innings pitched, four strikeouts, no hits, and no earned runs. Ally Carda had a two-inning stint facing seven batters, allowing just one hit and striking out two.
All 11 runs were scored within the first three innings with a huge six-run first that got the energy on the side of the WNT. Overall, the offense had 11 runs, off 12 hits, with 22 total bases, six extra base-hits and a .461 team batting average. This wraps up the two-game exhibition series with the Spark and training camp for the WNT successfully going 2-0.
