The 2025 WSPNT is made up of 14 athletes from 11 different states, showcasing a wealth of elite experience as 10 veteran athletes are returning to the Border Battle competition, along with two newcomers: Sarah Davis (Texas) and Carlie Hart (Minn.) – who join the squad for the first time in their careers. Additionally, Chelsea Showers (Ga.) and Randi Pauly (Ill.) will be making their debuts with the WSPNT after spending the 2024 season with the Women’s Futures. Head coach Don Cooper (Wa.) will lead the WSPNT for the eighth-straight year alongside returning assistant coaches Shannon Cooper (Wa.) and Tammy Higginbotham (Wa.).

Hailing from seven different states, the Women’s Futures introduces nine new athletes to the squad, while five veterans return to the field. Among the returning players, three come back from the 2024 season: Celine Kealiinohomoku (Ca.), Nicole Matson (Ca.), and Pam Usry (Miss.) — while Kristina Sheriff (Wa.) and Angelia Jones (Miss.) return after participating in prior seasons. At the helm of the Women’s Futures team for the third-consecutive year is head coach Ted Carter (Ky.), alongside returning assistant coach Shannon Ellingsworth (Ky.).

The 2025 MSPNT roster welcomes back 10 veterans from the 2024 season, while Jeremy Fry (Ind.) and Brandon Yoder (Ohio) add to the talent after competing on the Men’s Futures team last year. The 14-player roster includes athletes from eight different states, featuring two rookies — Kyle Center (Va.) and David Johnson (Ohio) — who will both put on the Red, White and Blue for the first time in their careers. The MSPNT will be led by National Softball Hall of Famer Brett Helmer (N.Y.), who returns for his seventh consecutive year as head coach, while Tim Barnes (Minn.) is also returns as an assistant coach for the eighth time in his career.

The Men’s Futures team features a blend of fresh talent and experience from 13 different states, with seven veterans returning to the roster and seven rookies preparing for their debut in the Red, White, and Blue. Returning participants include four-time competitors Austin Andrews (Iowa) and Conner Murray (Kan.), as well as two-time participants Bryan Dezern (Calif.) and Tyler Storey (Ga.). Rob Humphrey (Iowa), head coach of the 2025 U.S. Men’s Futures Team, returns to the U.S. coaching staff for the 10th consecutive year. Joining him at Devon Park is assistant coach Nick Shaw, who enters his second year with the program.

The U.S. MSPNT and WSPNT look to claim a sixth-consecutive Border Battle championship title after most recently defeating Team Canada in 2024, when the MSPNT earned a 21-14 victory and the WSPNT secured a 12-0 (5) win. The annual international matchup dates back to 2009, when the U.S. MSPNT took home the inaugural trophy and has since posted a 12-2 record against Canada’s Men’s Slow Pitch National Team. The WSPNT joined the action in 2017 and has collected a 5-1 record over Canada’s Women’s Slow Pitch National Team since its inception.

The highly competitive USA Slow Pitch Showdown has become a staple of the Slow Pitch community since its inception in 2012, with the MSPNT winning the matchup six times over the past decade. Following the introduction of the Women’s Futures Team in 2019, the Women’s Slow Pitch Showdown has also proven to be a strong matchup, with the WSPNT leading the series 4-0 after a 7-6 win in 2019, a 9-7 victory in 2022, an 8-5 win in 2023, and a 13-3 run-rule victory in 2024.
