OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization announced today that Jeff Sell (Harrisburg, Pa.) has been appointed as Commissioner for USA Softball of Pennsylvania. Sell transitions into this position following the retirement of longtime Commissioner Andy Loechner Jr.
“I am humbled to be named the State Commissioner for USA Softball of Pennsylvania,” said Sell. “It is an honor to follow in Mr. Loechner’s footsteps as he is not only an icon in Pennsylvania but in the game of softball throughout the entire country. I’ve been lucky to inherit a great staff in Pennsylvania and my goal is to get everyone working together to grow our great sport.”
Sell steps into the role of Commissioner after serving as President of USA Softball of Pennsylvania for nearly 10 years. His passion for the game began at age 16 when he joined his first Men’s Fast Pitch league where he played and managed teams for over 17 seasons. Sell also garners experience on the officiating side of the sport as a longtime USA Softball Umpire – beginning his career in 1979 and earning a selection to the National Indicator Fraternity in 1998. Over the last 30 years, Sell has worn many hats while playing various roles throughout USA Softball as the Deputy District 15 Commissioner, District 15 Umpire-In-Chief and District 15 Commissioner as well as the Southeastern Area Vice President, Men’s Fast Pitch Committee Chairman and Regional Player Rep. Outside of his passion for softball, Sell holds experience in the office furniture manufacturing industry where he recently retired after a 45-year career.
