SHREVEPORT, La. – Held Nov. 12-16, the 91st USA Softball Annual Council Meeting is set to take place at the Shreveport-Bossier Convention Center in Shreveport, La. where the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States will welcome Council Members and guests from all across the country. USA Softball administrators, players and tournament hosts will participate in a series of meetings to evaluate the needs of the organization, award 2024 National Championships and discuss proposed rule and code changes for all divisions of USA Softball.
Highlighting the five-day event is the 41st Annual National Softball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet taking place tonight, November 12. USA Softball will honor the 11 individuals who make up the Hall of Fame Class of 2022, including former Slow Pitch standouts Brett Helmer, Christan Dowling and Rusty Bumgardner; Fast Pitch legends Cat Osterman, Debbie Doom, George Nokes and Jeff Peck; dedicated Manager/Coach Steve Shortland; highly respected Umpire Jeff Hansen; meritorious leader Mike De Leo and long-time sponsor Al Savala. Following the Induction Ceremony will be the announcement of the 2023 National Hall of Fame Inductees, which will be voted on by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee earlier in the day.
The first General Council Session will take place on Sunday, Nov. 13 where all Council Members and guests will hear from USA Softball President Joe Patterson (USA Softball of Nebraska Commissioner) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Craig Cress on the state of USA Softball. Additionally, Council Members will have the opportunity to go over all Rule, Code and Procedural Manual Proposals for the 2023 season in detail before casting their votes on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Also taking place at the 2022 Council Meeting is the annual Trade Show – held Monday, Nov. 14. This event will feature exhibits from cities bidding on USA Softball National Championships, equipment manufacturers, softball suppliers as well as additional services or products.
Continuing on Tuesday, Nov. 15, the Wilson Awards Luncheon will recognize 2022 National Championship sites while also honoring USA Softball Council Members for various achievements, including their “Years of Service”. The final General Council Session will follow the Luncheon as all Rule, Code and Procedural Manual changes will be announced. USA Softball Council Members will also decide which cities will host 2024 National Championships – which is one of the most anticipated decisions made each year.
The 2022 Annual Council Meeting will conclude with a Board of Directors Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
