OKLAHOMA CITY — The U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) program kicks off its training camp Monday evening in Oklahoma City, with sights set on gearing up for the USA Down Under Series slated for Dec. 31, 2025 – Jan. 3, 2026, in Brisbane, Australia. Held Nov. 17-20, athletes in the U.S. Women’s National Team Pool and the U.S. WNT Down Under Series roster are invited to attend the camp to participate in a series of position drills and simulated games.
Originally scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 19, the Food Drive Scrimmage has been moved to Tuesday, Nov. 18 due to the weather forecast, where the Eagles will collect non-perishable food items for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The open scrimmage will take place at Devon Park around 6 p.m. CT, with gates opening at 5 p.m. CT. The scrimmage is free to the public, and fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for admission. Donation boxes will be located at the entrance of Devon Park. Suggested items include peanut butter, canned tuna or chicken, canned fruit, cereal, oatmeal, soup, canned sauces, canned or dry beans, and canned vegetables.
The camp will feature a mix of WNT veterans and fresh talent, including 17 returners — six of whom were part of The World Games 2025 gold medal roster in Chengdu, China. Four athletes that participated in the 2025 All-Star Showcase at Devon Park will be joining the Eagles at camp, while four new faces will be added to the Red, White and Blue training squad.

The USA Down Under: International Softball Series aims to promote the sport of softball as both nations advocate for its inclusion in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic program. With sights set on inclusion in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic program, Team USA will take on Australia in a series of exhibition games beginning December 31 at Redlands Softball Park in Ormiston, Queensland. The trip marks the Red, White and Blue’s first visit “down under” since the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, where Team USA captured gold. Matchups between the two nations have long been fan favorites, highlighted by their clash at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, which drew the largest crowd in Olympic softball history with 9,209 fans at Blacktown Park 25 years ago. In that 13-inning thriller, Australia edged Team USA, 2-1, in one of the most memorable games in Olympic history. The contest also marked a historic performance by Team USA legend Lisa Fernandez, who set an Olympic record with 25 strikeouts.
The USA Down Under Series also marks the 60th anniversary of the inaugural 1965 World Cup in Melbourne, where Australia edged Team USA, 1-0, in the finals. Looking ahead, the Eagles aim to return to Australia in 2027 for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals, with sights set on securing their spot at the 2026 Group Stage event in Oklahoma City at Devon Park.
