THE FIRSTS
The 15-player roster headed to Argentina is the second U-23 MNT program in USA Softball history, but the first to play in an international WBSC competition.
In 2023, the inaugural U-23 MNT competed in four exhibition games against Canada, splitting the series 2-2.
AT THE HELM
Making his return to the Eagles will be head coach Tony Aresco with assistant coaches Avon Meacham, Bob Piddock and Nick French joining him in Argentina. The trio of Aresco, Meacham and Piddock most recently led the U-18 MNT to a gold medal finish at the 2023 WBSC Americas Qualifier, marking the first medal won by a U-18 MNT roster in over 35 years, punching their ticket to the 2024 WBSC U-18 Men’s World Cup.
Aresco previously served as an assistant coach with the 2018 and 2020 Junior Men’s National Team (JMNT) with Meacham coaching on the 2009 and 2013 MNT staffs along with Piddock serving as an assistant for the JMNT in 2018 and head coach in 2020.
THE SQUAD
The 15-player roster will include six players that will be joining Team USA for the first time in their careers with nine veterans returning to the field after competing with the U-18 MNT and/or MNT.
