OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball is proud to welcome umpires from across the U.S. to the 2023 Umpire-In-Chief (UIC) Clinic set to be held February 2-4 at the Sheraton Downtown in Oklahoma City. A biennial event that is dedicated to educating and enhancing the performance and growth of USA Softball umpires, the UIC Clinic will offer a unique opportunity for UIC’s and umpires to develop their skills at the stand-alone event where the entire National Umpire Staff provides teaching and training.
Over 300 USA Softball umpires are expected to attend the three-day clinic, with educational opportunities existing in the form of interactive breakout sessions discussing rules, mechanics, game management, technology and more.
“The UIC Clinic provides an opportunity for the UIC, or umpire, to learn the latest training content and methods that we are incorporating in our clinics and schools,” said Chairman of the UIC Clinic committee and USA Softball Region 3, 4 & 5 Deputy Director of Umpires, Steve Nelson. “We strive to supply every umpire with information and ideas that they can take home and use in their games and in training their grassroots and local associations.”

“Our goal is aways to give as much information to our umpire group as possible including insurance, Safe Sport, registration and training,” said USA Softball Director of Umpires, Kevin Ryan. “We tailor the UIC Clinic to provide answers to frequently asked questions as well as instruction regarding new techniques to ensure our umpires are receiving the most up-to-date and elite training.”
USA Softball would like to thank sponsors RPS Bollinger and Sheraton Downtown OKC for their continued support of the game of softball and the UIC Clinic.
