Team USA improves to 3-0 at WBSC U-18 World Cup Finals following 11-1 run-rule victory over Canada

The Red, White and Blue closed out Opening Round of the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Women’s World Cup Finals with an 11-1 run-rule victory over Canada, highlighted by perfect 2-for-2 performances at the plate from Aspen Boulware and McLaine Hudson. Madelyn Doty got the start in the circle, striking out three through 2.1 innings of work before Ella Kate Smith entered in the bottom of the third to finish out the game. Following today’s win, Team USA will advance to the Super Round as the No. 1 seed in Group A and will face Japan tomorrow at 7 p.m. CT.

The Eagles struck first as Boulware posted a triple to plate one, followed by a sac-fly from Juliana Hutchens to give Team USA a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Emma Ford kept the momentum rolling in the top of the second with an RBI single up the middle, followed by back-to-back singles from Boulware and Hutchens to extend the lead to 6-0. Canada scored its lone run in the bottom of the third on a single through the middle, but the U.S. answered in the fourth with a bases-loaded walk to Brooklyn Paratore and a two-RBI single from Miki Watts. Addyson Sheppard then put the run-rule within reach with a two-run double to left center, widening the lead to 11-1, before Smith and the U.S. defense shut it down in the bottom of the frame to clinch the four-inning victory.

GAME 3 HIGHLIGHTS
