As a top-ranked country in both men’s (No. 6) and women’s (No. 1) disciplines, Team USA has earned a spot in the competition, with the men’s tournament taking place from August 6-10, while the women’s tournament is set for August 13-17.
Proving to be a successful sport at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, the women’s softball competition drew record-breaking attendance for both the duration of the tournament and a single event. The 2025 edition of the World Games will mark the fourth appearance for women’s softball and the second for men’s softball, as men’s softball is making a return to the World Games after a 44-year absence with the last tournament taking place in 1981 in Santa Clara, California, during the inaugural event.

U.S. Men’s National Team opens The World Games with 2-0 record after back-to-back wins over Singapore and Canada
The USA Softball Men’s National Team (MNT) opened the 2025 World Games (TWG) in dominant fashion with a 15-2 run-rule victory (five innings) over Singapore followed by a 6-3 win over Canada to kick off Opening Round. Team USA’s matchup against Canada was suspended after five innings of play due to lighting conditions and was later announced to be a win for the U.S. due to Tournament Rule C9.2 that states it was a complete game.
USA 15, Singapore 2 (5)
Scoring in four of the five innings played, the Eagles came out strong in their first contest of The World Games, with seven U.S. batters recording at least one hit in the matchup. Singapore plated its two runs in the first and third innings with a string of timely base hits and a double to cut into the lead. Team USA proved dominant at the plate, tallying 15 runs on 15 hits. Jonathan Lynch led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, while Yusef Davis (2-for-2), Blaine Milheim (3-for-5), and Erick Ochoa (3-for-3) also turned in multi-hit games. Lynch and Milheim each homered in the win. Brad Kilpatrick got the start in the circle, tossing three innings before Cody Gibbons took over in the fourth. The duo combined for eight strikeouts while allowing just two runs.
USA 6, Canada 3 (*5)
The Eagles struck early, plating runs in each of the first three innings—highlighted by home runs off the bats of Yusef Davis and Ochoa. Braden DuCharme, Lynch, Nick Mullins, and Zac Shaw also contributed with base hits throughout the game. Canada scored its three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to a pair of singles. In the circle, Marco Diaz fanned five batters through five innings while only allowing two earned runs. Diaz and the U.S. defense kept Canada quiet over the next three frames before the game was suspended due to lighting conditions. With five full innings completed, the contest was ruled official, securing the win for Team USA.
Team USA caps Opening Round with 14-3 run-rule victory over Australia; Advances to Playoff Round as No. 1 seed in Group B
Behind a 10-run third inning, the U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT) improved to 3-0 at The World Games 2025 with a 14-3 run-rule victory (four innings) over Australia, closing out Opening Round and advancing to the Playoff Round as the No. 1 seed in Group B.
Australia struck first with a lead-off hit-by-pitch followed by a single to plate one run, but the U.S. offense answered in the bottom of the second when a fielding miscue allowed Tyler Johnson to race home. Zac Shaw followed with an RBI triple to right field, and Blaine Milheim added another run with a base hit to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead. Australia closed the gap in the top of the third with a two-run homer, cutting the U.S. lead, 4-3. Johnson responded in the bottom half with a two-run blast over the center field fence, sparking a 10-run inning highlighted by RBI singles from Jeff Lewis, Erick Ochoa, and Johnson, before Frank Kimlinger cleared the bases with a triple to plate the final three runs. With the run-rule in effect, Cody Gibbons and the U.S. defense escaped a bases-loaded jam in the top of the fourth with a strikeout and a double play to secure the 14-3 victory. Johnson (3-for-3) led the charge as the only Eagle with a perfect multi-hit performance, while Milheim (2-for-3) also turned in a strong showing at the plate.
The Red, White and Blue delivered a dominant performance through Opening Round of The World Games, posting a .437 team batting average with 31 total hits while outscoring opponents 35-8. Jonathan Lynch led the offense with a .714 batting average, followed by Erick Ochoa (.625) and Blaine Milheim (.500). In the circle, the pitching trio of Marco Diaz, Cody Gibbons, and Brad Kilpatrick combined for 15 strikeouts, with Gibbons leading the way with seven K’s.
U.S. MNT secures 7-0 run-rule victory over Venezuela to advance to The World Games gold medal matchup
Team USA improved to 4-0 at The World Games (TWG) 2025 with a 7-0 run-rule victory (six innings) over reigning World Champion Venezuela, securing a spot in tomorrow’s gold medal matchup against Japan at 1 p.m. local time / 12 a.m. CT. Tomorrow’s game marks the Men’s National Team’s (MNT) first opportunity to claim gold on the world stage in 40 years, last accomplishing the feat at the 1988 ISF World Championship.
Despite a scoreless first inning, the Eagles struck in the bottom of the second with a double from Braden DuCharme, followed by base hits from Yusef Davis and Blaine Milheim to take a 4-0 lead. Davis added an RBI double in the third before scoring on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 6-0. With the run-rule in play, Erick Ochoa sealed the victory in the sixth with a walk-off single to bring home the final run, clinching the 7-0 win for Team USA. Davis and Braden DuCharme led the offense against the reigning World Champs, each going 2-for-3 with a single and a double. In the circle, Marco Diaz dominated with 10 strikeouts through six innings, allowing just one hit.
Team USA claims gold at The World Games 2025 after weather forces cancellation
CHENGDU, China — Due to inclement weather, the gold medal matchup at The World Games (TWG) 2025 could not be played, resulting in Team USA and Japan being named Co-Champions. Both teams walk away with gold, marking the first gold medal for the U.S. Men’s National Team program in over 35 years — their last coming at the 1988 ISF World Championship.
With an undefeated 4-0 record, the Eagles dominated at TWG 2025, outscoring opponents 42-8 and posting a .417 team batting average. The Red, White, and Blue collected wins over Singapore, Canada, Australia, and Venezuela en route to the top of the podium, tallying 40 hits and 27 RBIs along the way. Three of those victories came by way of the run-rule. Leading the U.S. offense was Erick Ochoa with a .600 batting average, followed by Jonathan Lynch (.556), Yusef Davis (.556), and Blaine Milheim (.462). The Eagles blasted five home runs during the tournament, with Davis, Tyler Johnson, Lynch, Milheim, and Ochoa each recording one. In the circle, Marco Diaz, Cody Gibbons, and Brad Kilpatrick combined for 25 strikeouts while allowing just seven earned runs across 20 innings pitched – with Diaz leading the charge with 15 Ks, followed by seven from Gibbons and three from Kilpatrick.
Three Eagles earned All-World Team honors: Davis, Lynch, and Ochoa. Ochoa led the tournament in batting average (.600) and on-base percentage (.692) while ranking second in hits (6). Zac Shaw also made his mark as a tournament leader with three stolen bases. Davis tied for the most doubles (2) among six athletes and ranked second in slugging percentage (1.000). On the pitching side, Diaz topped the tournament in both wins (2) and ERA (1.27).
With today’s gold medal, Team USA becomes the only national team to win medals in three consecutive world events — claiming gold at the 2022 WBSC World Cup, the 2025 WBSC World Cup, and now the 2025 World Games.
