PRINCE ALBERT, Canada — The U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT) kicked off Opening Round of the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Finals with a 10-0 shutout over world-ranked No. 2 Australia. Cam Schiller recorded a perfect 3-for-3 performance on the day with two singles and a home run, while Jeff Lewis (2-for-5), Jonathan Lynch (2-for-4), and Nick Mullins (2-for-4) also tabbed multi-hit performances in the matchup. Marco Diaz proved dominant in the circle, retiring the first 15 batters faced in order – six via strikeout – while collecting 10 K’s through seven innings.
Despite a quiet first inning, the Eagles broke through in the top of the second with a string of base hits from Schiller, Lynch, and Mullins, giving the U.S. a 1-0 lead. PRINCE ALBERT, Canada — The U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT) came up short in Game 2 of the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Finals, falling 4-5 to Japan in a tense back-and-forth matchup. Today’s loss brings the Eagles to an overall 1-1 record, with one matchup of Opening Round left to play.
With the U.S. offense slow to ignite, the Eagles managed just five hits on the day — one each from Yusef Davis, Jonathan Lynch, Blaine Milheim, Erick Ochoa, and Cam Schiller. Two of those hits were home runs, courtesy of Lynch and Milheim. Marco Diaz got the start in the circle for the Eagles, striking out nine batters through six innings.
Team Japan took an early lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run before the U.S. defense held them scoreless over the next three innings. Team USA posts 11-1 run-rule win over Dominican Republic to cap Opening Round
PRINCE ALBERT, Canada — Behind a 10-run fourth inning, the U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT) picked up its second win of the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Cup Finals with an 11-1 run-rule victory over the Dominican Republic to close out Opening Round. Three Eagles turned in multi-hit performances in the win, highlighted by a perfect 3-for-3 day from Cam Schiller — his second flawless outing of the tournament. Yusef Davis (2-for-2) and Jonathan Lynch (2-for-3) also added strong performances at the plate, while Marco Diaz got the start in the circle for the Red, White and Blue, tallying five strikeouts through four innings of work. With today’s victory, the Eagles advance to the Super Round and move one step closer to the top of the podium.

The U.S. offense exploded in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 10 runs on six hits — including doubles of the bats of Erick Ochoa and Schiller, and singles from Lynch, Davis, and Schiller — capped by a three-run blast from Lynch to seal the walk-off win.
Team USA put on a strong performance throughout Opening Round of the 2025 WBSC Men’s World Cup Finals with a .312 batting average and a combined 25 hits, while outscoring its opponents 25-6. Leading the U.S. at the plate is Schiller with a .778 batting average, followed by Lynch (.500) and Davis (.429). With one Super Round matchup left to play, the U.S. will face Venezuela tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. CT with a chance at the gold medal game on the line.
The U.S. struck first in the top of the second, as a double from Tyler Johnson followed by an RBI-single from Yusef Davis gave the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. New Zealand responded quickly with a solo shot to center in the bottom half to even the score, 1-1. The Eagles reclaimed the lead in the top of the third thanks to a string of base hits from Blaine Milheim, Cam Schiller, and Johnson — plating two to put the U.S. ahead, 3-1 — while Erick Ochoa added the final U.S. run in the top of the fourth with a solo home run to left. Following today’s loss, the Eagles will now compete for the bronze medal tomorrow, with their opponent still to be determined.
The U.S. offense struggled to come alive in today’s matchup with a combined three hits on the day — two of which were home runs off the bats of Jeff Lewis (1-for-2) and Blaine Milheim (1-for-3). Erick Ochoa also tabbed a hit in the matchup. Brad Kilpatrick got the start in the circle, fanning two batters through 3.1 innings before Cody Gibbons took over in the bottom of the fourth to collect five additional K’s.
Team Venezuela struck first with a two-run homer in the bottom of the third to take a 2-0 lead. They extended their advantage in the bottom of the fourth with another long ball, followed by an RBI-single that brought in two more runs to make it 4-0. Venezuela added two additional runs in the bottom of the fifth after a single through the left side allowed two runners to score, pushing the lead to 6-0. The U.S. offense responded in the top of the sixth with a pair of two-run home runs from Lewis and Milheim, cutting the deficit to 6-4. However, the comeback effort stalled in the seventh as the U.S. was unable to add any more runs.

Team USA defeats Japan 10-1 to earn bronze medal at 2025 WBSC Men’s World Cup Finals

The U.S. offense put on a strong showing with home runs from four Eagles — Jeff Lewis, Tyler Johnson, Blaine Milheim, and Erick Ochoa — while combining for eight total hits. Lewis and Ochoa led the charge at the plate, each going 2-for-4. In the circle, Marco Diaz delivered a steady performance, striking out six batters while allowing just one run through seven innings.

The Eagles wrapped up their WBSC Men’s World Cup Finals campaign with a 3-3 record, including a 2-1 showing in Opening Round to advance to their 11th Medal Round appearance in tournament history. Offensively, the U.S. posted a team batting average of .272, led by Cam Schiller (.450) and Ochoa (.364). The squad launched 11 home runs over the course of the tournament, with Lewis, Jonathan Lynch, and Ochoa each sending out two, and Johnson and Schiller adding one apiece.
