UCLA Slides Into Top Spot

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The UCLA Bruins knocked off Arizona State for the No. 1 team in the Nation according to the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll announced today by the Amateur Softball Association. The Bruins (26-3) received nine first-place votes after having an off week last week.

No.2 ASU (34-2), suffered only their second loss of the season,3-2 to Florida State, this past weekend at the Judi Garman Classic but fell to No.2 just two points behind UCLA. They received seven first-place votes, after spending the pastthree weeks at No. 1

With four first-place votes, Alabama (27-3) swept SEC Conference foe Kentucky this past weekend to hold on to the No. 3 ranking.

No. 8 LSU (27-4) continues its trek up the ranking after spending last week at No.10. They remain perfect in the competitive SEC conference with a 6-0 record after sweeping Auburn.

Georgia (30-8) leapt four spots into the Top 20 atNo. 18 as they are currently on an 11-game winning streak while Long Beach State (24-9) jumped six spots to No.14 after going 4-1 at the Judi Garman Classic.
