OKLAHOMA
CITY, Okla. — As members of the 2009 USA Softball Women’s National Team program
prepared for international competition over the summer, the women were visited
at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., by the Season 2 cast of
Lifetime’s “DietTribe” reality weight loss show. The episode will air Friday
(check local listings for time) on Lifetime.Pictures from the taping are available on www.facebook.com/asausasoftball/.
"I am just excited we were able to be a part of ‘DietTribe’ and I am really proud of the women involved,” said 2004 Olympic Champion and 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist Jennie Finch, a member of the 2009 Women’s National Team. “They were a lot of fun, determined, and worked so very hard. I am looking forward to our episode as I feel both softball players and non-softball players will enjoy it."
"DietTribe" Season 2 follows five women for 120 days as they struggle to stay on track through the toughest workouts of their lives and face the scale each week to see how far they’ve come both mentally and physically. Professional fitness trainer and health expert Jessie Pavelka and psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser guide and coach the tribe as they work toward creating healthier and happier lives, one pound at a time.
The show focuses on sisters Stephanie Taulealea and Tiffany Young, who enlist the help and support of their “softball mom” friends to reach their weight loss goals. While at the Olympic Training Center, the women, who played in a softball league, were given the chance to participate in a Team USA softball practice as if they were members of the USA Softball teams that won gold at the Canada Cup, World Cup of Softball, Japan Cup and the Pan American Games Qualifier in summer 2009.
"We had a great day with the ‘DietTribe’ and their crew,” said Women’s National Team Head Coach Jay Miller. “They worked extremely hard and did not hesitate to jump right in with our players. Hopefully they enjoyed the day and learned some softball to take back to their team.”
