My name is Brittany Rogers, and I am the oldest
of three girls. I attend the University of Alabama (where I am part of the most
welcoming family), and I am majoring in the best major ever: Elementary
Education. I cannot wait to have my own classroom and teach 4th grade students.
I love talking to kids and exploring their views on life and academics. I also
love figuring out fun ways to create new lessons. I grew up in Dacula, Ga, I’m
a self-proclaimed nerd, and I have played softball since I was about 7 years
old. I am usually considered the “mama” of my friends and I am quick to call
them my “babies”. Of all the things in the world, the most important thing to
me is family… I absolutely look up to my two younger sisters Alexis and Taylor,
and my heroes would have to be my parents. Recently, over Christmas break, I
got engaged to my high school sweetheart, Branden, and we plan to marry in
2010. He is definitely the other half of me.
My favorite color is plum purple. I am a sucker for cold chocolate. So much of a sucker that I keep Kit-Kats and Reese’s in my freezer ready to eat. My favorite things to do are to cook, eat, read, have girl talks with my friends, play putt-putt with Branden, interior design, roller skate, paint, shop for old furniture, have my teammates over to my house for dinner, jam out to any kind of music, watch the Food Network and HGT, and veg-out on the sofa as I watch a girlie movie. I would absolutely faint if I met Rachael Ray or Tina Turner, and I have a thing about giving everything I own a name. (My car is “Spiderman,” and my glove’s name is “Tina.”)
I cannot live without my cell phone (who can?! ), my Bob Marley iPod playlist, Sour Cream and Cheddar chips, Diet Pepsi, coffee (as long as it’s pie sweet!) or my teammates. My teammates definitely mean the world to me. The best part about playing softball: the friendships and sisterhoods you build with the people you play with. I get goose bumps when good things happen to people, and I crave the way it feels when my teammates all come together to fight for each other… All in all, I’m a pretty colorful person…I’m definitely not perfect, but I’m ok with that too. I’m just happy for the small things in life!
